November 1, 2011 What a great time we had at the 2011 Blues Blast Awards last week at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago! The band was primed and we felt great about our sets, and we can't thank Peter Parcek enough for allowing us the honor of backing him up on his original material. Doc also played with blues diva Teeny Tucker on a couple tunes! The night kicked off at 6pm with an amazing performance by Tony Rogers and Sharie Williams, doing a couple of Robin Roger's numbers from her BMA and BBA winning disc. Sharie brought chills to the house! That set the tone for the night, and the performances only got better! Performers included Gina Sicilia, Matt Hill, Peter Parcek, Chris O' Leary, Eddie Turner, Nick Moss, Karen Lovely w/ Kate Moss, ourselves, and a fun set by the man himself, Buddy Guy at his wittiest I've seen him yet. (Maybe that was because he was in his own club!) WGLT-FM was also there broadcasting the full show, which they have been replaying every once in a while on their website at WLGT.ORG!
The club was filled with musical friends and industry folks who all were in the mood to party and experience this great music called "the Blues". It was great to re-connect with so many of our new friends, and even discuss possibilities of future collaborations. (We can't say with whom just yet, you'll just have to wait and see....) Thanks to Bob & Nate Kieser, James Walker, Kurt Foor, and the staff of WGLT and Buddy Guy's for putting the work into this event! We know how much hard work and commitment it takes to make these things happen, and we're thankful for dedicated folks like these for bringing artists together in such a fun environment!
Though we didn't "win" our categories, we were very happy for Chris O' Leary for winning "Best New artist Debut" and Trampled Underfoot for winning the "Sean Costello Rising Star" award. For us, it was an honor just to be nominated and to rock the house with our first ever performance at Buddy Guy's Legends.
It has been an exciting, and sometimes painful year and half journey with Reclamation, but WE DID IT! We made our dreams happen, and learned a lot in the process. Now we have the pleasure of continuing on this new road with a solid reputation and more understanding of the process of releasing a disc. We are confident that the doors will keep opening for us both as individuals and as a band, and we can't wait to see what's next. It has been the loyal support and encouragement from friends, loved ones and fans that has given us the strength and endurance to keep going.
THANK YOU to everyone for sharing this adventure, and your love and support. We couldn't have done it without every one of you.
